[3:52] Can’t contribute financially? Here are a few easy, free ways that you can really help the podcast.
[5:34] Podathon week is a time when we can really give the Moon a little extra attention. The day’s Moon sign describes the tempo and pace of the day. The Moon can also show our way of coping with things emotionally.
[5:43] Today, the Moon in Aquarius squares Uranus (in Taurus) at 3:25 am PDT and then conjuncts Saturn at 5:33 am PDT. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for the entire day before entering Pisces at 9:42 am PDT.
[6:27] Saturn rules Aquarius, and since the Moon will form a conjunction to Saturn today, we can expect to feel a little lonely, as if we don’t have the time or opportunity to connect with people we normally look to for fun and support.
[6:46] Uranus is considered Aquarius’ modern ruler. Uranus is associated with sudden, abrupt change, but Aquarius is a fixed sign and fixed signs typically are not that excited about change. If you are on the west coast, you will most likely be sleeping through this Moon-Uranus square. Sleep may be disrupted. Pay attention to your dreams.
[7:42] Uranus is a planet of awakening and awakening usually is caused by or leads to change. The day may start off feeling a little off, like everything is on us and we do not have the usual support that we come to expect from friends and family. We then have this long Void-of-Course day, sitting with that Moon-Saturn feeling.
[10:18] Let’s welcome Dublin-based, consulting and teaching astrologer, Margaret Gray to the show! Margaret offers birth chart readings to clients all over the world, as well as teaching courses, webinars and has spoken at international conferences. Margaret’s work has a Jungian-based psychological approach. She’s particularly interested in relationship astrology and is the co-founder of “Relationships and Astrology,” which offers a certificate course in the astrology of love and relationships.
[10:56] Margaret set up and co-runs Astrology Ireland, served on the IAEA board and is a past ISAR board member. She is also a psychotherapist and works extensively with couples.
[11:28] The Moon is known to influence our relationships with others. What does the symbolism of the Moon say about areas of compatibility or conflict between two people, both from an astrological and a psychological point of view?
[12:20] For Margaret, the Moon has always been a crucial factor in her relationship astrological work because the Moon is our emotional makeup. Pay attention to the aspects (squares, conjunctions, trines, etc…) to your Moon. Understand the element of your Moon (fire, earth, air, water). Mercury is also an important factor to consider in relationships.
[15:03] Margaret gives examples Moon and elements associations. Someone with a Moon in fire, their comfort zone is enthusiasm, a sense of the future, a sense of adventure. As for a Moon in an air sign, communication is incredibly comforting. A Moon in earth may require some kind of physical manifestation for comfort. With the Moon in water, there’s really a requirement for emotional empathy.
[18:35] What if there is a shortfall in that emotional understanding of the Moon? That’s where Mercury comes in. Mercury is how we communicate and listen to the lunar realm, the pre-verbal feelings.
[20:19] What if a couple has two very different Moon signs? What sort of astrological and maybe psychological tools would Margaret offer for working out their differences? What about Venus, Mars or Saturn?
[20:40] Saturn is a wonderful planet in relationships, offering resilience and longevity.
[22:02] Venus represents our values which is great for friendships but when you go into the realms of intimacy, there needs to be a lunar understanding.
[24:53] Emotional intelligence = Moon and Mercury. Emotional intelligence is that ability to regulate ourselves, to be comfortable, to be aware of our emotions, to have that ability to empathize with others and to be able to communicate effectively.
[27:31] Margaret has two live, online, recorded courses coming up in October: Psychological Astrology, a collaboration with Psychotherapist, Psychoanalyst, and Astrologer Yvonne Smith Tarnas; and The Astrology of Love and Relationships with Margaret, Yvonne, Kay Taylor, Rachel Lang and Armand Diaz. All the information is at www.relationshipsandastrology.com
[28:37] Two diversity scholarships are being offered for each course, plus discounts for members of the main astrological organizations. Don’t miss the early bird deadline!
