Ep 358 | Podathon Day #1: Moving House, with Linea Van Horn! (9.7.26)
« Listen and read show notesIt’s Podathon week on The Big Sky Astrology Podcast, and for five big days in a row, we are bringing you special episodes that put the fun in fundraising, including the week’s planetary news, a closer look at the Moon, and special Podathon surprises. Plus, your chance to win prizes, people. So many prizes! And now, here’s your host, astrologer and author, April Elliott Kent.
Hello, invisible friend. April here, and the date today is September 7th, 2026. Welcome to Episode 358 and the 7th Annual Big Sky Astrology Podathon!
This is the week each year when we bring you five daily episodes complete with the big astrological news of the week, and this week, interviews with five fabulous astrologers to answer clients’ most-asked questions. Of course, this is also the week when I make my appeal for donations, which help me cover the costs of producing the podcast all year long.
Our first Podathon was held Labor Day week 2020 in a plan hatched by myself and then co-host Jen Braun to cover the expenses of producing the show for the year ahead. It is so hard to believe that that was seven years ago! And before we get started on this Podathon week, I really do have to take a moment to thank all of you who have helped the show over the past year, heck, over the past seven years, whether by making a donation, leaving a review, or to be honest, just by tuning in.
I’m thrilled to think that so many of you continue to find value in the show. I absolutely could not make this podcast without you, and I truly appreciate your support.
But while I do my best to run a tight ship, there are costs associated with producing this weekly show, and I would rather turn to my listeners to help cover these costs than to take on advertising. I’m a big podcast listener myself, and so many of them have turned to an advertising-heavy model that really interferes with the flow of the shows and my enjoyment of them, and I’m going to assume that many of you feel the same. And so, once a year during Labor Day week, I give you… Podathon! And then the rest of the year, we don’t have to talk about fundraising.
This week you can make a one-time donation in any amount, or become a regular monthly contributor. Just go to bigskyastropod.com. And to encourage your contributions, here are this year’s fantastic giveaways!
First, everyone who donates $25 or more, as well as our ongoing monthly podpal contributors, will be automatically entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of these five prizes.
Three lucky donors will win a copy of my Followed by a Moonshadow Eclipse report, a $35 value. Of course, we just got through our most recent eclipse season. It was a really heavy one, and I think a report like this one can help you make sense of what’s all gone on. Two lucky donors will win a 60-minute personal astrology reading with me, a $195 value.
And one grand prize winner will win a 90-minute reading with me, a $245 value.
To be entered in the drawing, you need to make your $25 donation at bigskyastropod.com no later than midnight, Monday, September 14th. The drawing will be held on September 15th, and winners will be notified by email.
“But April,” you may ask, “what if I can’t contribute that much?” I’m so glad you asked! – because I’m also offering donors of only $10 or more a special bonus, a series of YouTube videos for donors only. Over the past year, we have met virtually for almost every New Moon, going in-depth on big planetary transits and the New Moon symbolism.
I also want to say I know that not everyone can contribute financially, and that’s okay. Don’t worry, I get it. Here are a few easy, free ways that you can show your love and support for the podcast. If you like the show, please subscribe or follow the show on your app of choice. This is the very best way you can support the show for free and help it get noticed by other listeners. You can also leave a five-star rating or write a happy review, either on Apple Podcasts or any of the other platforms that allow comments. These really make my day, and they might inspire others to sample the show as well. You can join the conversation on my website and comment on bigskyastropod.com. Just click on whichever episode you want to comment on. And finally, recommend the show to an astrology-loving friend.
However you show your appreciation, please know that I am deeply grateful.
And now for today’s episode.
Today’s Astrology
In this week’s special daily episodes, I’ve interviewed some of my colleagues about topics that my clients ask me about most. Today’s interview is with Linea Van Horne, who talks with me about how she handles questions related to moving house. But first, let’s take a look at today’s planetary news.
Today is Labor Day in the United States, and it brings a very brief Void-of-Course Moon in Cancer. The Moon in Cancer squares Venus in Libra at 6:39 AM, and it’s void-of-course until 9:49 AM, when it enters Leo. This Void-of-Course Moon in Cancer is a fairly quiet one, and we might feel like a bit of a homebody, and that puts this moon at odds with the very sociable Venus in Libra. It’s a conflict that does temper each sign, keeping Cancer from becoming too intensely housebound, and Venus in Libra from looking outside the self to the detriment of any kind of introspection.
Labor Day in this country usually brings a day off from work, so this is a good day for sleeping in and maybe joining some friends for a holiday breakfast. So enjoy yourself!
Interview: Linea Van Horn on Moving House
Now, as I said, during this Podathon week, I’m bringing you interviews with five of my colleagues, each of whom will tell us how they might answer a client’s most-asked questions on a particular topic. Our first interview in this series is with the fantastic Linea Van Horn, who will tell us how she approaches questions related to moving house.
Linea is also known as The Astrologer at Large. She’s been a professional astrologer since 1998, and she’s the founder and President Emerita of the San Francisco Astrological Society, which unfortunately closed up shop over the last year. But it had a long and excellent run thanks to Linea.
Formerly employed in the astrology internet industry, Linea is an experienced astrological advisor, a respected teacher, published author, and dynamic public speaker. She devotes herself to client work, teaching, writing, and community building in the San Francisco Bay Area, and she’s a member of ISAR and OPA. Here is our conversation.
April: Well, Linea Van Horn, thank you so much for joining me on the podcast. It’s a thrill to have you back because, of course, you were here once already to talk about Pluto in Leo.
Linea: Well, I appreciate the invitation to come back. That’s a good sign. It is. And plus, I really like the subject that you asked me to do, which is about looking in the horoscope to see when a client might be expecting a change of address in their personal life. What you call moving house. Yeah. So this, of course, is a common question. Should I move? Secondary question, where should I move? That’s the subject for another day. So we’ll talk about today about the signs in a horoscope when a person or a client or friend or family member might expect this kind of personal change because, of course, change, moving house is a pretty significant change typically in one’s life. Although, some changes are more meaningful or significant than others.
So there are, happily, quite a few indications for what I call, you know, a change of address transit in the horoscope. Not just transits, but also progressions because I really, really like a progression. So, we’ll be looking at that.
But clearly, when we’re talking about changing house, the place where you’re gonna start is the 4th house cusp, because that is the home and the family and your actual real estate and your actual address where you live. So at this point, we take a little sidebar to clarify that when I say the IC or the 4th house cusp, I’m really talking about that calculated angle that is personal to you and the exact time that you were born and the exact place that you were born.
So that’s gonna give a, typically, not a zero-degree placement. Although, of course, there are calculated house cusps with zero degrees. It happens. But typically, it will be not zero degrees, and so I just want to differentiate between what we call quadrant-based systems or systems where the Midheaven and IC are calculated as well as the Ascendant and the Descendant.
So that’ll be my focus when I’m talking about the 4th house cusp or the IC. So that’s clearly the place to begin, but also, we have to include the 10th house. Why? Because it’s exactly opposite to the 4th house, and it, of course, is related to career and profession. And sometimes, not infrequently, those two things are connected.
That is, people are moving because of a change in their job. And then by extension, of course, the square point to the MC and the IC is also a place where action can happen, the unfolding crises of, you know, human existence. So we have this fundamental axis in the horoscope that we’re gonna be considering when we talk about the change of address situation in a horoscope.
April: And just so people know, if they’re using whole sign houses, for example, you are talking about the MC and IC, which the MC is drawn in the chart. So the MC and its opposite point become the cusps of the 4th and 10th houses.
.. Indeed, they do. In fact, that’s why we call them quadrant-based houses, because those two axes, the MC/IC and the ascendant and descendant are in fact the, you know, really the cross upon which your horoscope is based. And of course, there’s all kinds of iterations. Which way does the MC lean, and you know, et cetera. Subject for another day. Okay. Because this one is a very juicy subject, and, you know, everybody moves pretty much in their life… our world is so itinerant now as compared to 500 or 600 years ago, or through most of human existence, actually, where people, not always, but frequently grew up in the same place where they were born. So, when we’re looking at the IC of the, uh, horoscope of the client or whomever, the first thing you want to look at is transits.
And you would not believe how well this works. It is, you know, we’re not looking at the Moon, we’re not looking at Mercury, we’re looking at … I was, at first I was like, oh, you know, I would say Saturn on out, until my little example for today. Darn if she doesn’t have Jupiter right on her IC. I mean, like, within one degree. So when they found out they were moving, it was exactly on it. So I’m throwing Jupiter into the mix, too.
So, any time you have one of these slower planets crossing over the IC, that opens the door, as it were, for a change of address. Now, it’s not that 100% of the time that a transit to the IC is gonna produce a move. No. I mean, I would, in fact, venture to say that even most of the time it may not indicate a move, but if a move is going to happen, this is how you would find it. So there are other ways you can use those. Primarily, if you’re not gonna change house, you can, like, remodel, you know? Or make big changes in the house that you’re already at, and so it kind of feels like a new house.
Or you could just redirect that energy towards, I don’t know, ancestry.com or genealogy or real estate or, you know, any number of other things. So, so not every transit to the IC will produce a move, and probably not every move is indicated by something to the IC. Statistically significant affiliation of association there.
So, look for outer planets, you know, going…. Jupiter, hopefully you’re moving to a bigger place. You know, Saturn it may be … Well, I have a Saturn story myself. Which I’m, uh, just gonna keep to the end, but it was like, ooh. I got evicted, you know, from a place I’d lived for a really, really long time because they sold the building. You know, it wasn’t for anything I did. It was like, “Oh, you have to move.”
I’d… now I’m telling the story anyway, so I may as well just tell it. because this is it. It was Saturn. So I’d lived in this apartment in San Francisco, rent-controlled apartment. I was literally like a prisoner of rent control. I’d lived there 25 years.
And then in 2004, I’m looking at my transit, I go, “Oh, Saturn in Cancer. That’s gonna go across my IC here in 2004.” And I said to one of my kids, it’s like, “Hmm, we might have to move.” So, when I got the letter in the mail that they were selling the building and I was going to be evicted, I didn’t have a heart attack because I had totally had this, you know-
April: You were prepared
Linea: Yeah. I was prepared. And at that time, San Francisco, (it’s a) tenant-friendly city, so they ended up, they had to pay me- Thank goodness … $7,000 to move, okay? So that, you know, took the sting out of it a little bit. And like- And then I moved in with my boyfriend, and then we got married. You know what I mean?
So it ended up being a pretty, a pretty good thing, but it was still the “ooh” when it happened. You know, Uranus is gonna give you some kind of shocking event. I’ve got an example of that.
Neptune, the thing about Neptune, when it’s on the IC or even in the 4th house anywhere, not only can you lose your house, you know, so you, you’re under, literally under water.
Your house is, you know the note is worth more than the house is worth. So you hate to hear stuff like that. But also, actual water problems. So if you’re a homeowner and you’ve got Neptune going across the IC, I wish I had $5 for every client I’ve told and they call me back in six months, they go, “When there was a leak under my sink, I laughed. My astrologer told me this would happen.”
April: My husband has Neptune in the 4th. I have Pisces on the 4th. And we have had nothing but water problems, and we knew when we bought the house that was gonna be an issue. And there was settling and plumbing problems and all kinds of stuff.
Linea: Yeah. Right. That’s a great user-friendly suggestion, you know, right there, Neptune in the 4th. Either you lose your house or, you know, you really need to watch out for the water.
And then of course, Pluto, I remember I had a client or a student actually one time, he had a, Pluto across the bottom of the chart, and I was saying to him, “I mean, this is Pluto weather. This kind of weather, you know, is happening for everybody, but for you, it’s like landing in your living room.” And he’s like, “How did you know it was landing in my living room?” You know, so I was like, “Well.”
April: What are some things that you’ve seen with Pluto on the IC?
Linea: I mean, actually, I survived Pluto on the MC, which my MC is 15 degrees of Capricorn, and so my IC is 15 of Cancer. And actually it’s quite interesting because I’m the founder of the San Francisco Astrological Society. Of course, it wasn’t so grand, you know, way back when I founded it in 1992. But at that time, the exact time I founded it, Uranus was freaking 15 degrees of Capricorn, okay? So I started it with Uranus crossing in my Midheaven.
By the time Pluto got there, 15 Cap, but this was, like, in the mid-teens, I was like, “Yeah, I’m done here.” And I basically gave them a year. It’s like, “Okay, I’m stepping down for one year. You’re gonna step up. I’m gonna teach you.” And then… it did not involve a move, however. We already moved by that time.
So like I say, not every transit that indicates a potential change of address actually materializes in that way. But with Pluto you’re gonna expect some kind of dramatic, life-changing…. With the Midheaven it’s like, okay, your status has, has shifted in the world. And that permitted me basically to put more attention in my home life and my garden and just taking care of things and managing things that I’d never really been able to enjoy before.
So also to follow up on that Saturn story, my Saturn story, seven years later when Saturn squared my IC, we moved again. And we moved out of that house that we rented together, and this time we bought a house. We’re out in the suburbs, okay? So we made a really big, dramatic, uh, upswing there.
So the point of this is that those square positions to the MC and IC are also very, very sensitive to, uh, activity by those outer planets, because then of course it’s gonna be squaring. So then you would assume, you know, some more difficult circumstances. Although in my case, it was- actually, the thing that made us move was we had a terrible landlady. The landlady from hell. So that was the thing that motivated us, okay, out the door. So it ended up, again, being a good thing. Okay, so the square aspects, yeah.
April: I always think Saturn is, Saturn is the one that’s gonna actually make things happen.
Linea: Mm-hmm. Right.
April: I’ll often see something like Uranus, you’ll want to move, but maybe you won’t.
Linea: Right. Yeah, because it was kind of interesting, because we’d had some event with her, and I was, like, tearing my hair out in the kitchen. I was like, “I wish we could move,” and Alan was like, “Well, you know, I have enough for a down payment.” I was like, “Do you?”
April: Things you never knew about the man you married!
Linea: Yeah. So, um, I mean, and that was probably in November, and we got the key in, like, January, okay? So it’s like, once we decided to do it, it was just like warp speed to buy that house. And that was the Saturn square.
Progressions over the IC. Now, here’s where I get really excited, because one of the things that I find is so important and so little recognized in astrology when working with progressions, and by the way, I never call them progressions to my clients because their, like, you know, eyes glaze over, roll back – I call them evolutions. We’re gonna give you credit. For every year that you survive, we’re gonna move your marble, you know, one more slot along the Chinese checker game board. Okay, so we’re giving you credit, and things are moving along. And one of the things that moves along are your freaking angles. And I’m telling you, they are so, so valuable because it, like, doubles your money when it comes to working with the angles.
Because not only do you look at the natal angles, but you look at where the progressed angles are. So of course, the older a person gets, the more difference there is between the progressed angle and the natal angle. But I’m telling you, those progressed angles are just as functional and just as usable as the natal angle.
So when I talk about progressions to the IC, it isn’t just your actual IC. It’s also your moving, your progressed, your evolving IC or MC. So they will get to things in your horoscope, or things will move along and bypass them. It’s like another moving piece, and that’s the one thing about astrology. It’s so full of, you know, moving parts. It’s like… makes your mind spin. But those progressed angles are really… that’s one of those moving pieces you want to keep a grip on.
And interesting, just as an aside, you know, you find some clients where they’re having a lot of transits, but the transits are to their progressed chart, to their progressed Sun. And also, I always feel like that’s a good sign because it means the person’s evolving, and that’s where the action is. So, I really do look at transits to progressions and particularly these angles.
You’ve got not only your natal IC that will receive progressions, but also the progressed IC will also indicate moves.
And the main thing in terms of planetary progressions that you’re looking at, of course, is Le Moon, because Le Moon moves really fast. One degree per month. Oh, what a great, great astrological timer. And it’s really sort of like click, click, click, click, click.
April: And this is the Progressed Moon? I’m just clarifying.
Linea: Yeah. Correct, the Progressed Moon. So the Progressed Sun is gonna take a whole year to move one degree. That the progressed Moon only takes a month to move one degree. You can see that it really… it’s like the second hand of the clock. So it’s like click, click, click, click, click.
And Bernadette Brady, oh, you know, I kiss the hem of her gown, talks about the Progressed Moon in her excellent book. What is it even called anymore? I had, like, the first-
April: The Eagle and the Lark, I think that’s it.
Linea: Thank God she renamed it because people are like, “Eagle and the Lark, huh? Wonder what’s that about.”
April: I think it might be something as simple as Predictions in Astrology. It still has that as the subtitle, yeah.
Linea: I think it is, right. Yeah, so it’s, maybe it’s a subtitle now. But what she says about the Progressed Moon because of its speed, she goes, “Well, first of all,” she says, “It kind of loses its affiliation with mother, food, and, you know, your home.” It’s kind of like click, click, click, click, click. It’s just moving along. It shows you where you should be paying attention. Okay? It’s like a searchlight. And you’ll see it’ll sweep over things.
You’ll, you have five planets in a row, and for the next year it’s gonna, it’s gonna swoop right over them. And it’s like, okay, time to develop that part of your horoscope. So when you get the Progressed Moon, you know, sweeping across, so it takes, like, 28, 29 years to go around the entire horoscope.
So the Progressed Moon, when you’re getting activity from it, it’s nothing to sneeze at. I mean, that’s a long cycle, and it’s a significant cycle. So the progressed moon in particular going over the bottom of your horoscope is gonna be a very good indicator about the change of address.
And then finally, the last thing you look for that we haven’t mentioned, but, you know, your house cusp is there, and it’s one thing. But your fourth house is gonna have a ruler. So it’s whatever the planet is that rules the sign of your IC. So in my case it’s Capricorn, so Saturn rules my IC. What’s, what’s your IC, April? Oh, is, is that sensitive information? I, I won’t ask you to divulge anything.
April: I am Sag rising. I’ll tell you anything about my chart!
Linea: Oh, okay, okay, good.
April: But it is Pisces.
Linea: Pisces, ooh … Jupiter and Neptunian. So you have a choice- You could go with Neptune, the modern-day ruler. For my money, when it comes to choosing rulers, give me Jupiter over Neptune any day of the week. Give me Mars over Pluto eight days of the week.
April: Because they move! They do something.
Linea: But that’s the thing. The only thing you got with Pluto is, oh, two days of the year it’s stationary. Whoa, okay. Right. Now, I mean, you know, when it comes to changes, at any house, you want a ruler that moves, okay? You want a ruler that moves and is doing things. So I would give you Jupiter as the planet you’d be paying attention to for your own IC.
So, you get the gist of things here. So this is enough stuff definitely to go on to give you plenty of mileage when you’re working with charts.
So, then I was like, huh, who do I know? You know, it’d be nice to have a little example here. Who do I know that’s moving? It’s like, oh, this is great, because I have like an adopted family daughter, okay? She’s known my daughter since their Girl Scout days 30 years or something now, and she lives in the area, and she got married a few years ago, and then they had a baby, and they’re so cute. And they’re like, you know, my adopted family. Well, they’re moving this month. Okay, it’s like whoa, how handy. So I pull up their horoscopes and fall off the chair laughing.
So, the husband has Uranus exactly on his IC, exactly, to the degree, three degrees of freaking Gemini. The thing is, he’s had this job, he’s had the job for several years. He’s really good at his job, but the company sucked. Like it had an ancient doddering owner who was sick and in the hospital half the time. His granddaughter is like, you know, not paying the rent, not collecting money. So, he can see, okay, the cabin’s cracking here around me, and he’s like looking for a new job. And he goes, “Oh my God, they… you can’t, there’s nothing there.” And then, a couple months ago, he goes in on some Monday and the granddaughter is there and she’s like, “Yeah.”
Okay. So he loses his job, like, overnight. You can’t exactly say unexpected, but still shocking and unexpected. So he’s like, “Crap.” Okay, so he’s out of work for not long, and then he gets another job in property management, which is not the area that he’d done before, but he has personal experience with it.
So he gets this job in property management, and one of the things in that field is that you often will live in the area that you manage or work at, and you get like a 40% reduction on your rent. So they are gonna be moving up here too… so, it’s like in my town. They’re moving much closer – I’m thrilled about that – to a bigger apartment with a lower rent that is literally where he’s gonna be working. And so he had Uranus, you know, shocking event, you lose the job, but hey, new! And then what Maurice Fernandez talks about with Uranus, he goes, “It’s an upgrade. It’s an upgrade,” which is just really great. Wow. So it… I know, it’s, it’s a great thing.
April: I love that perspective. Now what’s his natal Uranus like? Does it have any good aspects?
Linea: Don’t remember. Don’t care. Because it’s like, whoa, this is just so like, astrology with a two by four, you know? But I mean, that’s not a bad question. Yeah. And if we had more time, and if I was working with him, I would be looking at that.
Because, because you’re not wrong in the sense that if you’re really used to a planet, you know… I have a son who’s got an exact Sun square Uranus, and it’s like, oh boy, you know? He just, does not do anything the typical way. And he’s at an age now where he’s having his freaking Uranus half return, so of course it’s also squaring his Sun.
So I’m like, “Oh my God.” And then it’s like, well, it’s going pretty smoothly because-
April: He’s used to it.
Linea: … he’s lived with this energy his entire life. This is nothing new for him. It’s like, “Welcome to my life.” So the question, you know, would you look at his Uranus? Absolutely. So I’m glad you made that point, actually, I didn’t mean to dismiss it. If we had more time… But if you’re working with clients, that is absolutely something you would do. So yeah, so an upgrade, and then the other thing Maurice Fernandez says that I just haven’t been moved to say is Uranus transit represents emancipation.
Yes. Ooh, wow, what a word. Because does that not kind of infer that you were, you know, a prisoner or something, or you’re a slave to… And I think about my friend here, the husband, who’s been in this job where he brings the skill and the capacity and the managerial and the effort and the whole thing, but the, the container just can’t hold it. The container is, like, literally disintegrating, you know, around him. And so it really has been an emancipation from that work, you know, that really imperfect work condition into something that just seems like, oh, my God, so ideal for him. You know, so yeah, emancipation and upgrade. I mean, a really good Uranus transit words.
April: Right! I love the upgrade thing, yeah, I’ve never heard that.
The way I’ve described Uranus to clients is it’s like you are in the hoosegow in an old Western, and this is the posse that comes in the middle of the night to liberate you. And maybe you’ll like it, and maybe you won’t. But now did she have something going on in her chart as well?
Linea: She does. Okay. Because it was in- because he had, like, one thing, and that was it, and that was enough, because it really encapsulated everything. Case closed. So she has like four things. So what she lacks in intensity, she makes up for in volume or quantity, okay? Well, first of all, Jupiter over the IC. I mean, like, literally last month when they found out they had to move or were going to move, you know, into a bigger place, it was literally right on her IC, exact.
So she’s got Jupiter sweeping over the bottom of her horoscope, which, you know, Jupiter, okay? Plus, it’s- she happens to have Moon conjunct Jupiter in her horoscope, so she’s already very Jupiterian in her nature. And so this for her, is just like, “Oh my gosh, this is so great. We’re moving into a bigger place.”
So, she has that Jupiter over the IC. Solar Arc Moon… So your Solar Arc Moon, which is one degree per year for all solar arc planets, one degree per year. So this is a once in a lifetime activity. This is not gonna happen again in her lifetime, Solar Arc Moon going over the IC. Her Secondary Progressed Moon squared her natal Moon last month just when they found out they were moving, so there was that little square.
And again, it’s like, “Pay attention to where you’re living.” They only moved just over a year ago anyway into this apartment, which they’ve hated this apartment that they’re living, so another liberation right here. The last time that they moved, her Progressed Ascendant arrived to her actual Moon. And so they not only did they move, but they had a baby! They had a baby! It’s like, oh my God. I mean, this is what’s so great about astrology, April. After all these years, I mean, literally like 45 year- no, since the middle of the 18, uh, uh, of the 1980s I’ve been studying astrology, and it’s still like, dang.
Wow. Can you believe this? Oh, that’s so great. Look how, look at the timing, you know? So- well, they had so much stuff going on that it’s not- I know … too surprising, yeah.
April: So let me ask you, if there is somebody who doesn’t move much… I’ve been in my house now for 20, it’s gonna be 29 years this October. Before that I moved like a regular person. I was always moving. And if you get somebody that is not moving, quite apart from issues of real estate and all of that- What might you look to in the chart to say, “Here’s a person going through just a really static period?”
Well, and sometimes it isn’t just the period. Sometimes it’s just the chart. Like, I have Uranus in the 4th house, but you think, “Oh my God, this lady moves every six months.” No. I got Taurus rising, okay? I got, like, stability. Like, wow, that’s really important. And plus that Uranus is involved in a big old water grand trine, okay?
So it’s- Mm … stabilized essentially by Saturn, by the Sun, by being really close to Jupiter. Got this fabulous Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. Oh, I love that piece of my horoscope. So you have to look past the first level. Uranus in the 4th, oh my God, that’s unstable. Not necessarily. So yeah, you have to look basically for signs of stability in the horoscope.
But then the question becomes, well, when you do have a change of address transit, what are you gonna do with it? Because that is like a restless energy that does want some kind of shift or change. So if you own your house and you’re living it, you’re not gonna be, you know, moving, you remodel a room. You put a frigging garden in the backyard or the front yard. You paint. You do something in the house that’s gonna refresh it.
But God, I just, for some reason, this little story that I read, it’s in a nursing home, and the people in the nursing home are… can’t find their door because the doors are all the same. So the staff, oh my God, went around back to their houses and took pictures of their doors and made big stick-ons of their individual doors and put it on their doors.
So that way, when they’re walking down the hall, they go, “Okay, here’s my door. I’m home.” And they would… Like, you change the door. You have to shift your environment. You just shift the energy from a new house to an improved house, or redirect it into doing something in your body, or up into the 10th house. Shifts in the career. You can, you can always redirect energy. This is a beautiful principle of life. You have to redirect this change-of-address energy into, you know, either your own health, your own body. Hopefully you aren’t redirected into trying to manage somebody else. You do want to be careful about where you redirect that energy, that it’s an appropriate place, and not hyper managing others.
So yeah, that’s what I would say about that. And it’s sort of like, you know when people have empty houses in their charts, and they’re always like, “Oh my God.” Empty seventh house, that’s the worst. “I’ll never be married.” It’s like, you will, probably. Maybe. I mean, if you’re not married, it’s not because of your empty seventh house, okay? The numbers are in your favor. Those empty houses are basically… I say that’s just not where your big jobs are in this lifetime. I mean, that’s, you know, your jobs exist in other areas of life. So it’s a little bit… you’re in the driver’s seat here. You’re not being buffeted by things.
Little bit easier than a house with five things in it.
April: Yeah. That’s a lot. So what do I tell somebody who’s coming to me, and they desperately want to move, and I am just not seeing the transits or the progressions? Do you just go to something like Mars, or what are you doing?
Linea: I basically will look ahead. I mean, typically when the clients come, I’m not gonna go more than a year or 18 months ahead. I’m sorry. You know, there’s just too much. You can’t tell. But in a case like this, I will look ahead maybe as far as five years and say, “You know, not now. This isn’t the time. But look, in two and a half years or three years, you’re gonna have this. That looks much more promising.” And you know what, typically, their response is like, “I know. That’s really my plan.” Ah. You know? “I was just hoping to be able to move sooner,” you know? So- Right … so when you, when you identify really much more hopeful or likely period for them, it turns out they’ve already settled on that and that’s where they’re retiring or, you know, I mean, it’s like, “okay.”
So yeah. So oftentimes that’s, that’s what happens. But that said, either wait or redirect the energy. I think those are kind of your two good options. There may be others. Do you have others? What would you do?
April: No, that’s probably what I would do as well, and usually it is the thing where they’re saying… Of course I’ll look to the Midheaven, of course I’ll look to the Ascendant and Descendant, see if it’s square anywhere in the neighborhood. But sometimes it’s just not there. And I’ll just say, well, it’s not… Look, you can do anything you want, but the chart is not singing it to me. But at this time it looks a little more likely, so… Yeah. That’s what I would usually say.
Linea: And there’s also, you know, another question in this kind of thing is, well, what kind of move are we talking about? I mean, if you’re just talking about my neighbor next door is annoying me so I’m gonna move to another apartment six blocks away, that may not show up in the horoscope because it’s not a major thing.
It’s gonna be a, you know, relatively not life-changing because you’re still in the same neighborhood, same job, same relate- So you know, some moves are bigger than others, right? Helps to be able to kind of identify where on that scale of, you know, life-changing is that move. Because if it’s not such a big deal, then I mean, what’s actually true then is the client has much more kind of control over the situation.
I call it, you know, kind of fair weather and not being buffeted by the currents of, you know, crazy, crazy transits and so forth. It can be kind of peaceful when that happens.
April: Well, those are all fantastic. Is that everything you have on your list?
Linea: That’s it. I’m at the end and I got all my points, you know? So that makes me happy. And this is a really fun opportunity to kind of, you know, put that together and think about it and clarify some things and…
April: Because it is so commonly asked. And for all kinds of reasons, just as you point out.
Linea, thank you so much. This has been wonderful. It’s been a great conversation. It had the benefit, too, of the fact that I agreed with everything you said, really, so, that always makes me feel good.
Linea: I know. When people agree with you it’s like, “Yes, I’m so smart.”
April: But of course. But of course that’s true. Thank you so much. Now where can people find you and what do you have coming up?
Oh, you could go to my pathetically out-of-date website, astrologeratlarge.com. Just don’t look at anything. I mean, it’s just so sad. It’s like a legacy website, you know, that I did 15 years ago and can’t be updated and it’s just … And I can’t bear to let, you know- Yeah … it’s just this, um… I’m just a terrible Pisces about the website.
April: But you’ve got UAC coming up because you are organizing the Marion March Regulus Awards.
Linea: The Marion D. March Regulus Awards. Yes, yes. Don’t forget that D. Yeah. So I’m in charge of that this year. So if you’re at UAC, flag me down, say hi. It’ll be, you know, it’ll be fun to see people.
And I just so appreciate the invitation in April for, you know, to come and join you again on your podcast. These are great fun for me, and we just have a great time together.
April: We do. It’s been a delight. Thank you.
Linea: Thank you so much. It has, so thanks for the invitation. And Happy change of address, everybody!
Oh, I just love Linea, and I hope that you enjoyed this interview. I really enjoyed bringing it to you. And if you are planning a move any time soon, I hope this discussion will give you some pointers on astrological timing!
