Living in a Biography
It can be so tiring, being human – inhabiting an identity, having a biography, carrying so many memories and grudges and sorrows. What would it be like if we were amnesiacs and had no idea who we were supposed to be? How light it would feel, with none of the emotional burdens and limitations that are part of how we define ourselves.
The trine between the Sun and Neptune (July 27, 2026, 12:36 am PDT) offers a mini-vacation from the tyranny of ego, to let yourself float downriver and disengage from who you think you have to be, to wish a new self into being.
But the Sun sextiles Uranus later the same day (July 27, 2026, 2:36 pm PDT), bringing a bracing jolt of something unfamiliar, something new. What can I say? I like sextile aspects, which bring opportunity, and I like aspects involving the planet Uranus, because he’s sort of fizzy, exciting, and unpredictable.
The sextile between odd couple Sun and Uranus – one representing the unchanging core of the self, the other symbolizing perpetual change – offers the message that it’s always possible to be more truly yourself, if you’re willing to risk standing apart from society’s expectations.
The surest way to do this is to embrace change. This doesn’t mean we have to settle for chaos. But there’s little doubt we’ll remain younger and more vital if we seize the opportunities of change, rather than letting the fear of it stop us in our tracks.
Interpersonal Drama
There’s a certain kind of person who thrives on interpersonal drama. They like to pick fights with their partner at parties. They enjoy the challenge of stealing another person’s spouse. They distrust the moment in a relationship when they have begun to feel a little bit comfortable; maybe this means the passion has gone out of it all. Such a person seems to mistake disruption for passion.
That sort of dynamic is one potential face of today’s Venus square Mars (July 29, 2026, 12:09 am PDT, 21º14’ Virgo-Gemini). It’s an aspect of conflict, whether in a relationship or within oneself, specifically between a craving for reliability and order and a desire for movement and chatter. Whether you naturally gravitate toward one side or the other, the work of the square aspect is to find a way to combine them. The huge potential advantage of this aspect is a chance to wake up to conflict and, in resolving it, to grow closer and more passionate than ever.
Expanding Frontiers
Once each year, the Sun comes together in a conjunction with Jupiter (this year, on July 29, 2026, 5:17 am PDT, 6º24 Leo) and we ask: Am I dreaming big enough for myself? The sign of the conjunction describes the nature of this self-examination. Last year, that sign was Cancer, with the wish to build family and prioritize personal connections. This year, the conjunction is in Leo, and the question is, how well are we doing at inhabiting Leo’s heartfelt approach to expanding personal and creative frontiers?
Jupiter demands growth, and that’s not always comfortable. Leo is a cheerful, life-affirming sign; what’s to fear? Well, it actually takes a good amount of courage to stand up in front of the world and say, “Look at me!” Not everyone is going to love your performance, or appreciate your bravery. But do it anyway. Share your true self in a generous, heartfelt manner. You’re the only one who can be you, so ignore the detractors and sing your song.

Unlike Anyone Else
The question at this week’s Aquarius Full Moon (July 29, 2026, 7:35 am PDT, at 6º30’ Aquarius) is, are you feeling closely connected to a vibrant community of like-minded people? Or do you feel like an outsider, odd, detached from everyone else around you?
This Full Moon is on the Sabian symbol 7 Aquarius, Child born of an eggshell. It’s a weird, disconcerting image, like something from science fiction. Untethered by conventional beginnings or expectations, this child elicits sympathy; but on the other hand, it’s free to grow into something entirely authentic and unique.
Even this Full Moon’s conjunction with Pluto carries a message of rebirth. It’s the point in the previous New Moon Cycle (in Cancer on July 14) where what was planted then is revealed; and this Full Moon breaks us out of the Cancer shell of family and lineage, pointing us in the direction of individual freedom.
This Full Moon and Pluto oppose the Sun and Jupiter, conjunct in Leo just a couple of hours earlier. “I want to be myself!” that conjunction exclaims; but the Full Moon and Pluto in the opposite sign declares, “I want to be unlike anyone else” – which isn’t exactly the same thing.
