TRANSCRIPT Ep. 348 | Gemini and the Double Moon Week! (06.08.26)
Hello Invisible Friend, April here, and the date today is June 8th, 2026. Welcome to Episode 348 of the Big Sky Astrology Podcast.
This week, well, we had no major lunation last week, so we’re doubling up this week with both a Pisces Last Quarter and a Gemini New Moon. Gemini loves to do things in pairs, so it would not have it any other way. One of the nicest transits for relationship all year takes place this week as Venus makes a conjunction with Jupiter in Cancer, just before Venus enters glamorous Leo. Communications take on a serious tone when Mercury squares Saturn, and I answer a listener question about the complex quincunx aspect.
Pisces Last Quarter Moon (June 8, 2026, 3 am PDT)
The week begins with the Moon Report, and we begin, as always, with the week’s major lunation, and in this case, it’s the first of two, the Pisces Last Quarter Moon on Monday, June 8th, at 3 a.m. Pacific time. That’s at 17 degrees, 38 minutes, Pisces and Gemini. We know that at the Last Quarter Moon, it’s time to take final action on our New Moon goals, and in this case, we’re going back to the May 16th New Moon in Taurus.
But the Moon in Pisces doesn’t necessarily move in a direct way. You’ll need to make sure you’re getting plenty of rest and plenty of alone time so that you can reflect and decide what are the right actions to take.
Pisces favors the water, so if you can get out to the ocean or lake, or river, that’s a great environment for considering what it is that you need to do to bring this Taurus New Moon cycle to completion. Sometimes we have to step away from things in order to get perspective and to let them fall in place.
I always think of baking bread, and how you have to step back and stop kneading the dough at some point so that the dough can rest, otherwise it gets kind of tough and too hard to handle. So, at the beginning of this week, let your dough rest. Contemplate those Taurus New Moon objectives, which would have been very practical, and put the Pisces Last Quarter Moon’s imagination and intuition on the job of bringing them to fruition.
Lunar Phase Family Cycle for Pisces Last Quarter
This is the Last Quarter in a lunar phase family cycle that began with a New Moon on March 10th, 2024, at 20 degrees 16 minutes Pisces. So, we’re looking back not only at the Taurus New Moon on the 16th of May, but on this New Moon in March 2024, because it’s when we would have been giving a lot of focus and attention to Pisces issues. And at that time, there might have been something that you were initiating in the realm of Pisces, some kind of spiritual goal or objective.
Perhaps you decided, boy, I would really love to go on a retreat sometime in the next couple of years. And this would be a time that you might be making a concerted effort to bring that goal to completion.
The First Quarter Moon on December 8th, 2024, was the First Quarter in this cycle. And that’s when you would have taken some initial action towards those Pisces New Moon goals. Nine months later, there was a Full Moon on September 7th, 2025. And that would have been the time to get clear perspective on exactly what you wanted to do to further the Pisces New Moon objectives. And now we’re at the Last Quarter, and we have another nine months to live in this Last Quarter phase and make the right kinds of actions toward those previous goals.
Gemini New Moon (June 14, 2026, 7:54 pm PDT)
Now, of course, this week, we also have the Gemini New Moon on Sunday, June 14th at 7:54 p.m. Pacific time, at 24º03′ Gemini, on the Sabian Symbol 25 Gemini, A man trimming palms. True to its Gemini nature, as I said, this New Moon comes as part of a pair of lunations for this week.
The New Moon point itself isn’t actually making any close aspects to planets, but it is ruled by Mercury in Cancer, which is square Saturn, as well as being in its retrograde shadow as of June 12th. It will station retrograde on June 29th, but we’re already feeling a little bit of that retrograde message coming our way. So we might expect some blockages in communication with the square to Saturn, as well as some delays, possibly with travel.
But Mercury’s square to Saturn goes along with the New Moon Sabian symbol about the man trimming palms, because it’s an image of someone bringing order. So, consider this a good New Moon period for tidying up, for getting your car serviced, organizing paperwork, catching up with correspondence.
Lunar Phase Family for the New Moon
This is the New Moon in a lunar phase family cycle that will unfold over the coming three years.
So be paying attention, especially if the New Moon point, 24 degrees, three minutes Gemini, makes a close conjunction or square or opposition to something in your birth chart, especially, and formulate your New Moon goals accordingly. Look at the house of your chart where 24 degrees Gemini falls, because that gives us some messages about the area of life that you’re making some plans about. And of course, if that New Moon point is aspecting any planets in your birth chart, because they’re also telling some of this story.
Nine months from now, the First Quarter in this lunar phase family cycle comes on March 15th, 2027, at 24 degrees, 51 minutes Gemini. First Quarters in any lunar cycle are the moment to take initial action towards something that you were thinking about at the Moon.
Nine months after that, at the Full Moon of December 13th, 2027, at 21 degrees, 24 Gemini, the picture is much clearer about what it was that you were actually beginning at this New Moon. And nine months after that is the Last Quarter in this lunar phase family cycle on September 11th, 2028, at 19 degrees, 47 Gemini.
So, make a lot of notes at this New Moon is what I usually recommend. Because any cycle that’s connected with the Moon can be kind of subtle in the way it unfolds. Sometimes it’s not. Sometimes the timing of these lunar phase family cycles is really vivid and really explicit.
But sometimes, not so much. So, keep a little notebook at each New Moon and write down what is really happening in your life right now, whether or not it seems connected with the sign of Gemini or even the house of your chart that is being impacted. Because these are the goals and the activities that will be unfolding and developing over the next few years.
Void-of-Course Moon periods
Let’s look at the Void-of-Course Moon periods for this week. On Monday, June 8th, the Moon in Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer at 5:38 p.m. Pacific time. It’s Void-of-Course for seven hours and 55 minutes and then enters Aries on June 9th at 1:33 a.m. And this is just a lovely transit. The Moon in Pisces wants love and peace and compassion and a sense of connectedness with everyone and everything. And Jupiter in Cancer just says, “Yes! – more of all of that.” Use this particular Void-of-Course Moon to develop a habit of practicing kindness, generosity and appreciation for all of the beauty that you enjoy in the world.
On Thursday, June 11th, the Moon in Aries squares Venus in Cancer at 1:22 a.m. Pacific time. It’s Void-of-Course for four hours and six minutes, then enters Taurus at 5:28 a.m. Venus is the planet of relationships, and when she’s in Cancer, our top priorities tend to be around family, our inner circle and also the comforts of home.
The Moon in Aries, however, just wants to do what it wants to do when it wants to do it, and that rarely includes checking in with what’s going on with the people closest to us. A five-minute conversation can feel stifling if you are ready to act on an idea, but it’s nothing compared to disappointing a loved one and going into a grudge that could last days or longer. Use this Void-of-Course Moon period to get in the habit of checking in with your inner circle before you make major moves.
On Saturday, June 13th, the Moon in Taurus sextiles Jupiter in Cancer at 12:30 a.m. Pacific time. It’s Void-of-Course for five hours and 36 minutes and enters Gemini at 6:06 a.m. During this Void-of-Course period, the desire for comfort and for a lush and loving home life will probably be pretty strong. Shower the special people in your life with affection, with gifts, with delicious food. Be grateful for all that you have, including the coziness and comfort of your home. Use this Void-of-Course Moon period to get in the habit of slowing down a little bit – Moon in Taurus – and appreciating all of the people and places and things in your life that feel like home to you.
And on Sunday, June 14th, the Moon in Gemini makes a conjunction with the Sun at 7:54 p.m. Pacific time. It’s Void-of-Course for nine hours and 20 minutes, then enters Cancer on Monday, June 15th at 5:14 a.m. This is basically the Gemini New Moon, so this could signal a new beginning with communicating the parts of your life – especially with Mercury in Cancer – that may not have a voice, such as feelings or nostalgia, or even some resentment. In fact, all of the Void-of-Course Moon periods this week are linked in some way to Cancer, so pay particular attention to the Cancer areas of your chart.
The Moon and Sun in Gemini are pretty cerebral and for Gemini, the search for information and variety are never-ending. With Gemini, feelings and emotions can be put to the side a lot of the time. But it doesn’t mean that they go away, and it does not mean that the Moon in Gemini does not have feelings. The sign the Moon is in tends to say, “This is how we process our feelings,” and for the Moon in Gemini, we process them with words, reading, writing things down, chatting with people. Use this Void-of-Course Moon period to get in the habit of taking short breaks to breathe and focus on what you feel in your body and your heart and gut so that these emotional hiccups can be soothed before they get out of hand.
Venus conjunct Jupiter (June 9, 2026, 12:59 pm PDT)
On Tuesday, June 9th, at 12:59 p.m. Pacific time, Venus makes a conjunction with Jupiter at 25 degrees 46 minutes Cancer, on the Sabian symbol 26 Cancer, Contentment and happiness in luxury, people reading on davenports. Some might consider this one of the very best transits of the year. We have Venus, the lesser benefic, in a conjunction with Jupiter, the greater benefic, planets that were traditionally thought to convey some of the best possible… shall we say, luck, and we might see some of that this week. This transit is designed to bring more of the things that bring us pleasure and satisfaction, but initially our attention might be called to things we feel we’re lacking or the ways in which we don’t particularly enjoy what we already have. This is a transit that can help us remedy that.
It’s important to determine how much of a good thing is too much, because Jupiter can get a little carried away, and Venus symbolizes what we enjoy, what we want, but not necessarily what we actually need. So, this is a time to learn to appreciate what actually makes us feel good and happy, just like that Sabian symbol of contentment and happiness and luxury, people hanging out on Davenports reading, it pretty much says it all. Usually, this aspect says we have to find a balance between having some of what we want without sacrificing too much to get it – too much money or space, or peace of mind.
Mercury square Saturn (June 9, 2026, 10:39 pm PDT)
Later that evening on Tuesday, June 9th, at 10:39 p.m. Pacific time, Mercury in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries. Mercury can really represent the way we frame the saga of our personal lives, our personal development, and at this aspect, a reality check is in order. Are we telling the truth about ourselves, our goals, our lives? Are we trying so hard to spin reality that we no longer know what the truth is? There are stories about ourselves that we would prefer to ignore or forget, but this can be a time to revisit those stories, maybe with renewed perspective and understanding.
Relationships with our siblings and neighbors are also the province of Mercury, and at this time, they’re relationships that can help us come to a clearer understanding of ourselves. Maybe through helping out a sibling who is having some problems or negotiating about getting a new fence with your neighbor.
People will not appreciate having their authority questioned or receiving bad news, but we can gain a better perspective on what it is that we really want and how mature we are, and how our decisions impact our reputations. This is an aspect that says take responsibility for your actions and your feelings.
Venus enters Leo (June 13, 2026, 3:47 am PDT)
And on Saturday, June 13th at 3:47 a.m. Pacific time, Venus enters Leo. It will be in this glamorous, luxurious, and exciting sign until July 9th. This is the time during the year to make those thrilling purchases that you may have been putting off for a long time.
Now, of course, we have to keep the reality of our financial circumstances in mind as we do this, but it means if you have been saving, if you have been putting things off, this is the time to splurge a little bit and generally Venus in Leo likes things that are a little bit glamorous, that maybe make us feel like a king or a queen.
We might find ourselves being invited to social events that really seem appealing to us because we get to dress up, we get to take a trip to the salon, and maybe we’re not really in a position to do all of that financially, as I say. But it is, at the very least, about digging deep into your closet and taking out your most special outfit, which at the time might have seemed a little bit over the top when you bought it, but now feels just right. Venus will be in this sign, as I said, until July 9th, and at this time Jupiter will be at 2 degrees Leo at the same time that Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will all be at 4 degrees of Gemini, Aries and Aquarius. That is a very exciting configuration that we’ll talk about a little closer to that time.
Listener Question: The Quincunx Aspect
In this week’s listener question, listener Glenda writes, “I have a question that I was hoping you could talk about on a future podcast. The quincunx/inconjunct aspect – what do you think of them? Are they more important as a transit than as a natal aspect? Robert Hand doesn’t place much significance on them as a transit, and I’m not sure what he thinks as a natal aspect. I’d love to hear what you think about them. And yes, I have one in my natal chart, a significant one, Venus and Mars. Ugh! But I think it makes sense when I reflect on my relationships.”
Thank you. Glenda, thank you for that question. Ah, the mysterious quincunx! Let me first give a general rundown about this aspect because it’s not one that I cover on the podcast normally, because I usually have my hands full with the major aspects of the week. So, this aspect might be a little new to some listeners.
The quincunx is an aspect that separates two planets by 150 degrees. So it’s kind of between a trine and an opposition. Along with the semi-sextile aspect, which is a 30-degree aspect, the quincunx is sometimes called an inconjunct, which just refers to aspects between planets in signs that have nothing in common. They are not of the same or even a complementary element, and they are not in the same modality, cardinal, fixed, or mutable.
The quincunx is generally described as a minor aspect, and this is not a commentary on its relative power or importance, really. Major aspects are the ones that divide the 360-degree wheel by fundamental numbers – one, two, three, four, or six, and create powerful and obvious angles. But minor aspects are angles that divide the circle by more complex numbers like eight or twelve, or five, and they create less obvious manifestations.
So, as I say, it’s not that they aren’t important. They can tell us a lot, but they tend to be a little bit more subtle often than the major aspects like the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, or opposition. The key, I think, to understanding the quincunx is that planets that are in this aspect don’t speak the same language. The exception might be a quincunx in the signs of Taurus and Libra, because they at least share the same planetary ruler, Venus, or Aries and Scorpio, which are both ruled by Mars. And even to some extent, Cancer and Sagittarius, because Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, which is exalted in Cancer.
Here’s how to find a quincunx aspect easily. Begin with the planet in a sign and find its opposition point, so its opposite sign. The quincunx will naturally occur in the signs either side of that opposition. So, in the case of say Virgo, the opposition would be in Pisces, and the quincunx would be in Aquarius, the sign before that, or Aries, the sign after it. Now this isn’t true 100% of the time because we can have aspects between planets that we call dissociate or out of sign, but it is the standard.
So, with the quincunx, we are talking about signs that are kind of awkward with each other. Virgo and Aquarius are an earth sign and an air sign, mutable and fixed. Earth signs operate from the practical side of life. They tend to be a little more physical in nature, whereas air signs like to figure things out and consider different possibilities. Virgo and Aries are earth and fire. Fire signs are enthusiastic and excitable, which tends to be pretty different from the grounded earth signs.
In the birth chart, planets that are quincunx to each other represent parts of ourselves that have to learn to compromise and adapt. You mentioned Venus quincunx Mars in your chart, Glenda, and this can definitely be seen pretty clearly in relationships where there’s a lot of compromise and adaptation that will be required. And in terms of the other Venus parts of your life, such as money, what you want is sometimes out of sync with your ability to get it. You might want a particular salary, Venus, but be drawn to work – ruled by Mars- that doesn’t tend to pay that kind of salary.
Because of its natural association with the sixth and eighth houses, the quincunx can also refer to possible health problems or weaknesses, even if the planets involved in the quincunx are not in those houses.
Where transits are involved, a quincunx can prompt a time of frustration, delays, or sometimes health challenges.
Transiting Pluto has been triggering my natal quincunx between Venus and Jupiter ever since it went into Aquarius, and my business has slowed down a bit from its heights during COVID, and I’ve been dealing with getting some of my health care measurements, such as blood pressure and blood sugar, a little closer to what they should ideally be. So that particular quincunx has been sitting in my birth chart my whole life, but it really hasn’t been until this transiting quincunx has come along to activate it that I’ve been needing to deal with some of these issues.
So those are just some thoughts, and for more on the quincunx, I do recommend the work of Rick Levine, who’s done a lot of work in this area, and in the show notes for this episode, we will link to a class that he gave on quincunxes through Astrology Hub, and a really good YouTube interview he did with Stormie Grace, who incidentally has her own new book out about planetary aspects. And I haven’t looked at it yet, so I’m afraid I don’t know if she addresses the quincunx, and you might get more information from that, but give it a try.
Glenda, thank you so much for your question, and the best of luck continuing to work with that Venus-Mars quincunx!
