A reading
is, ideally, a kind of story with a beginning, middle, and
end, starring your client as the protagonist.
The best
stories are rendered so effortlessly that few would suspect
the careful planning that goes into producing them.
For my money, readings that are really stylish and well constructed
work according to roughly the same principle.
So, gone are
the days when I used to blunder into a consultation armed
only with a few charts and the belief that any further preparation
was "cheating." Nowadays, I find it infinitely useful
to construct my reading from an outline. It takes a lot
of time, but the results--clarity and cohesiveness--are
really quite amazing.
