As in agriculture, the time
of the month between the New and Full Moons is considered beneficial for weddings
because it symbolizes new energy, growth, and light. At the New Moon, the Sun
and Moon - symbols of male and female - are joined in the same sign of the zodiac.
It's a nice time to marry, because the symbolism is that you are on the same page,
and headed in the same direction. Similarly, the Moon's waxing sextile (60 degrees)
and trine (120 degrees) aspects to the Sun are auspicious for wedding charts,
because they represent compatibility between the wedding couple. Jim
Maynard's Pocket Astrologer is a hand guide for finding these dates.

Full
Moon
The waning Moon, between the Full and New Moons, is considered
less strong for weddings; it is a time of harvest rather than a time of planting
and new beginnings. That said, I still recommend marrying at a time when the Moon
is making a waning sextile or trine to the Sun, over a date when the waxing Moon
makes no aspect to the Sun - or worse, a poor one. The Full Moon itself, while
many consider it very romantic, is not a strong time to wed. The Sun and Moon
are in opposition at the Full Moon, symbolizing a couple who are coming from different
directions. Opposites can attract, but they can also repel.

Eclipses
Eclipses
represent turning points in our lives, moments when we've gone as far as we can
in a particular direction and need to change course - though we are usually reluctant
to do so. Eclipses are powerful, not not rare; they happen twice each year when
the New and Full Moons conjoin the lunar nodes at the ecliptic. These are intense,
often emotional, even disorienting transits; and though they symbolize needed
change, their energy may be a little overwhelming - and unpredictable - for a
wedding chart.
